What does “placed on waivers” in hockey mean?
I recently came across the term "placed on waivers" in hockey and decided to dig a little deeper to understand its meaning. Essentially, it's a process where a team can release a player, making them available for other teams to claim. This usually occurs when a team wants to send a player to the minor leagues or clear up some roster space. If the player goes unclaimed after 24 hours, they can either be sent to the minors or stay with their current team. It's an interesting part of hockey management that shows the strategic decisions teams make to build a competitive roster.
